Participation in the Round Table Discussion “Higher Education in Times of War and Reconstruction: Sector Transformation, Modernisation and Institutional Capacity of the Network” with Ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko and Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mychailo Wynnyckyj (02.07.2025, Kyiv)
On July 2, 2025, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine joined the round table discussion “Higher Education in Times of War and Reconstruction: Sector Transformation, Modernisation and Institutional Capacity of the Network”, held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The event brought together representatives of the academic community, public authorities, expert circles, and alumni networks for an in-depth policy discussion on the strategic role of higher education in Ukraine’s recovery, institutional and cultural barriers to reform, modernisation of university governance models, and quality assurance in higher education under conditions of war and post-war reconstruction.
The round table was attended by Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, and Mychailo WYNNYCKYJ, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Member of Erasmus+ HERE team. The discussion focused on aligning university autonomy with state policies for human capital development, moving beyond formal reforms towards systemic transformation, and strengthening the institutional capacity of the higher education network.
A wide range of issues was addressed during the discussion, including the rethinking of licensing and accreditation approaches, the transition from discipline-based teaching to competence-based education, integration of research into teaching and societal needs, development of an expert community to support higher education reform, and the role of universities in fostering social cohesion and supporting veterans, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups. The event was held in an offline Fishbowl format, enabling an interactive and substantive exchange of perspectives among participants.
